The Contemporary world’s attention is focussed on education as an instrument for Nation development. One of the key factors determining the progress a country can make is the quality of human capital produced by any nation. Educated citizens propel economic transformation in our knowledge based economy. Thus the role of a teacher, in the fast paced, IT driven, rapidly transforming globalized economy cannot be emphasized enough. Every country needs the brightest and most committed teachers.

Teachers currently play multiple roles in order to facilitate the development of cognitive skills, leadership skills and values in children. They are required to be curriculum specialist, subject experts, psychologists, learning facilitators, data crunchers, tutors and mentors. Good schools establish a culture of ‘continuous learning’ amongst the teaching fraternity. It is inevitable therefore, that innovation, creativity and problem solving abilities will be central in a fast developing world.

We emphasize Continuous Professional Development for teachers and we welcome bright, artistic, creative minds to enhance their skills by undertaking certificate courses or the Diploma at our Training Centre.

Education should take care of the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of children. Developing personality and forming character should be an integral part of education. It should help the child to have desirable knowledge, skills, interest attitudes and values. At the end of their educational tenure children should emerge with high self-esteem, self-respect and self-confidence.

In the words of Dr Radhakrishna “The teachers’ place in a society is of vital importance. He acts as the pivot for the transmission of intellectual traditions and technical skills from generation to generation and helps to keep the lamp of civilization burning”

There has been increased attention to teacher training for effective education. Teachers being trained in the various aspects of their career is of utmost importance. They need effective skills and tools for incorporating the latest teaching technologies, classroom management, and preparation of resource material for classroom application. Teacher’s role has changed as education goes beyond examination grade. Education consists of academics, co-curricular activities, sports, life skills and holistic development of the child.

Teachers who are warm, calm, patient and have a positive attitude are interested in the physical mental and emotional, welfare of the children, do valuable service to education and are assets to the society.

NPS has been imparting holistic quality education to children the last five decades. As part of enhancing the performance of teachers, we have been training teachers to meet the challenges of their responsibilities. We have a training centre and we are extending this service to those who wish to avail this facility. I wish the training centre and the members of staff lasting success.

Compliments to you on choosing teaching as your career!

No other profession relies on the power of relationships to enthuse young minds. No other profession enables us to positively influence the youth of our country. No other profession in the world is as fulfilling as working with young children. In choosing to be a teacher, you choose to influence your students by preparing them to be skilled, productive, value driven, creative global leaders and citizens.

Teachers have an opportunity to ignite, excite, and challenge young minds.

The role of a teacher is far more important today as we need to endow our students with myriad skills and sound values to prepare them to enter into a knowledge society. The onus is on teachers to foster creativity and compassion; imagination and integrity; thereby paving the way for our youngsters to become empowered enablers contributing to the nation’s growth and development.

Parents and teachers acknowledge the inquisitiveness and intelligence of the current generation and therefore teachers need to become ‘lifelong learners” enhancing their skills in the areas of Child Psychology, Behaviour Management, Classroom Management, Multiple Intelligences, Assessment and Learning Strategies.

Greetings to all those who aspire to be teachers and those teachers who wish to be better teachers!
